Feral Cat in B&W Sun flare - Feral Cat Photo of the Day

Black and white photography often seems to best-capture the plight of feral cats and the light effects of the twin lens reflex camera add mood to the scene...
Feral Cat Sunflare in B&W
Photographed using a Yashica Mat EM 120 medium format camera, Kodak TMax 400 film. The nature of twin lens reflex cameras is such that sun flare is a "problem" with backlit subjects. Most photographers to to avoid this; I prefer to use it. A companion piece of photo art can be found here.

While the feral cats for which I provide care have pretty good lives (for feral cats), most of these poor creatures struggle to survive and their lives tend to be violent and short. Thank God there are at least a few safe havens for them.

In other news... Fran and Tortie Xiu are back from the vet, having received spaying thanks to United Paws and flea treatments. They weren't happy about their little "alien abduction" however, and they are still settling back into home life.

This reminds me that the tortie has yet to have her own blog post! I have to that when the weather is better.
