Lonesome Roads

Lonely Roads
Way back in 2009, I got a glimpse of a tabby tux tom walking down a nearby dirt road. The lighting was bad and he was far away, but I took his picture anyway. For some reason, it made me think of a song by Green Day, Boulevard of Broken Dreams:

I walk a lonely road - the only one that I have ever known.
Don't know where it goes - but it's only me and I walk alone....

I walk this empty street, on the boulevard of broken dreams...
I walk alone.

My shadow is the only one that walks beside me.
Cold and hungry, I must keep moving.
Sometimes I wish someone out there would find me.
Until then....
I walk alone.

My original post and photo is here. ...Somehow, the lyrics seem appropriate for the lone feral cat. It's a sad and lonely life, but it's also the only life they've ever known.  Well, since that time, the lonely road cat, or Lonesome Roads, as I now call him, moved in closer to the colony. Perhaps he found the temptation of food, albeit sometimes meager, too much to resist. Or perhaps he needed a friend.

Lonesome Roads is still pretty standoff-ish and he definitely goes his own way. But he has friends now, and food. And a dry place to sleep. For a feral cat, it's not so bad.

Lonesome Roads isn't quite so lonely anymore.
